Creative testing at scale: the 3×2×2 system
A repeatable way to launch, read and iterate on short-form creative without flooding your account.
Volume, but disciplined
Testing requires volume — keep 5–10 fresh creatives live at any time. A clean starting matrix is 3×2×2: three hooks, two lengths, two CTAs, for twelve variants you can read quickly.
But volume without enough spend per variant is just noise. Each test needs enough budget to reach a meaningful signal.
Launch and read
A proven workflow: start with a lot of raw footage, cut about four concepts, launch them in a normal ad set, and let the algorithm allocate spend. Whatever gets spend — even before ROAS is there — is your signal.
Iterate on the winner
When one variant wins, make four new iterations: keep the hook and change the middle, try a shorter cut, swap the on-screen text, and reorder the scenes. Refresh creative every 7–14 days for high-spend campaigns to stay ahead of fatigue.
The constraint is production throughput. The faster your generate → edit → deploy loop, the more you learn per dollar — which is the whole point of putting it on autopilot.
- Run a 3×2×2 matrix; keep 5–10 creatives live.
- Let the algorithm pick winners by where it spends.
- Iterate the winner 4 ways; refresh every 7–14 days.
